We had an appointment with Eli's pediatrician on Monday. He has gained two pounds in two weeks! I think Eli is rather fond of Dr. Bissey, but I'm quite sure he never wants to see the phlebotomist again. She got half the blood she needed out of his first arm, and he was such a trooper- he barely wimpered. But his blood started clotting and she needed more. She asked if she could try the other arm or if I would rather wait. Well, he handled it so well and there we were, so I said to go ahead. Bad decision! The veins rolled in his other arm and he was screaming a new scream we've never heard before. His needle-phobic dad was out in the hallway listening to the torture while I was left to restrain the slippery little sucker. We finally gave up, so the hepatitis compound was not run but that's okay- he had that test in Africa. We were able to find out that he is not anemic anymore, and he does not have HIV or any parasites. All good news! And today he started rolling over. We are making real progress here!
I'm not a fan of naked baby pictures, but here's Eli showing off his battle wounds, happy as a clam.
Notice all the chub, the hair, and two new teeth up top!
