One year ago from last Saturday we received our referral for Eli and saw his face for the first time!
This is one of the first pictures we received of him...it's hard to recognize this emaciated baby.
Here's some of what we've been up to this summer:
Hiking at the Olmpic Peninsula
First ferry ride
Visiting the Wards and Quinlans in L'ville. Funny, Eli does not appear amused by the girls' attire :)
First time swimming. He appears to be having fun here, but really not so much.
This was more up his alley.

Wow!! One year!! :) And... a little weird, but look at how much Eli looks like Matthew in the picture of them on the ferry!!! Super cute! :)
Eli looks so adorable!
Hi. I've enjoyed reading your blog very much. My husband and I recently accepted a referral of an infant boy from Ethiopia. He has severe acute malnutrition and TB. He hasn't gained anything in height in 2 months. I was wondering if I could talk to you about your experiences with a malnourished child. I've put my faith in God in accepting this referral. We wanted a healthy infant, but we fell in love the minute we saw our little guy. My name is Melissa Johnson, and my email address is mdegrazia@hotmail.com. I'd love to hear from you.
